The Australian Citizenship Act 2007 provides for people to apply to be registered as an Australian citizen if they were adopted overseas by an Australian citizen parent in accordance with full Hague Convention Intercountry Adoption arrangements or a bilateral arrangement between Australia and another country as prescribed in Schedule 1 of the Family Law (Bilateral Arrangements-Intercountry Adoption) Regulations 1998.
