The 888-acre Burke Lake Park is dominated by Lake Burke. Vesper Island, located within the lake, is maintained by the state as a refuge. For wildlife watchers, there is a 4.5 mile trail that circles the lake where a variety of waterfowl may be observed during the winter. Bald eagles can be seen around the lake and there is also a bluebird trail.
Burke Lake is a 218-acre Department-owned public fishing lake in Fairfax County. The lake serves as the main attraction to Burke Lake Park, a 650-acre park operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority. Burke Lake offers excellent fishing and features largemouth bass, muskellunge, walleye, channel catfish, bluegill and black crappie.

The miniature Central Pacific Huntington steam engine travels 1.75 miles on a trail through the woods. A ride is only $4.00 on weekdays, $5.00 on the weekend, and free for ages 2 and under.

Burke Lake Park features an 18-hole par-3 golf course, as well as a driving range and clubhouse. The driving range was renovated in 2017 to, amongst other improvements, have two stories of stalls. Construction of a new clubhouse, which is 4,200 square feet and has dining (Mulligan's Grill), a pro shop, and a patio, was completed the same year.
