Self-tests for COVID-19 give rapid results and can be taken anywhere, regardless of your vaccination status or whether or not you have symptoms. They detect current infection and are sometimes also called “home tests,” “at-home tests,” or “over-the-counter (OTC) tests.”
Testing is currently recommended, regardless of vaccination, if you: Have COVID-19 symptoms Have been a “close contact” to someone with COVID-19 within the last 14 days * If you have had a positive test for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, you do not need to get tested as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19.
COVID-19 test results may take up to 72 hours. If you have questions about your results, please contact the test provider. If you were tested at a DHEC Health Department, please call that Health Department directly. If you were tested by any other provider such as a hospital, doctor's office, or pharmacy, please call that provider directly.
