Como Park Zoo & Conservatory is free and open to newcomers and frequent visitors alike all year long. Our mission is to inspire our public to value the presence of living things in our lives. With a strong focus on conservation and serving over 2 million visitors annually, our expert staff is dedicated to the wellbeing of the many plants and animals that live here.

Tropical Encounters exhibit will immerse you in the sights, sounds, and smells of a South American rainforest. The stunning conservatory gardens include seasonal flower shows, tropical gardens, orchids, ferns, bonsai and a world renowned Japanese Garden. Como offers unique classes and programs for all ages, and is an award winning wedding venue. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is open 365 days; 10am-6pm from April 1-September 30 and 10am-4pm from October 1-March 31.

The Como Park Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory (or just Como Zoo and Conservatory) are located in Como Park at 1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul, Minnesota. The park, zoo and conservatory are owned by the City of Saint Paul and are a division of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation. Its attractions include the zoo, the conservatory, an amusement park, a carousel, Lake Como, a golf course, a pool and more.

Lil’ Explorers is a FREE program from 10:00AM-noon Thursdays in the Visitor Center in the Winter, and on the zoo grounds in the Summer. Perfect for the 1-3 year old (but open to all) to meet animal and plant visitors, see story time, play games and many other fun activities.
Como Zoo was founded in 1897 when the city of Saint Paul received a donation of three deer and provided a simple fenced in pasture for the animals. In 1902, the animal collection at Como Zoo was expanded to include animals native to Minnesota such as elk, moose, foxes, and two cebus cattle. The zoo also received donations of pets, such as a parrot, two Mexican red birds and a monkey.
Nature Walk is a summer volunteer program that inspires youth to be stewards for wildlife. Youth will connect visitors to Como’s animals and plants to encourage appreciation and preservation of the natural world. Annually more than 50 interns and over 1000 volunteers work in partnership with staff to realize the mission of Como.
