Como Zoo was the first zoo established in Minnesota. Founded in 1897, when the then mayor of Saint Paul wanted a place for his deer to be, the zoo is located within Como Park, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Como Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Como Park Zoo & Conservatory is located in Saint Paul’s beautiful Como Park neighborhood and is open 365 days per year; 10am - 6pm April through September and 10am - 4pm October through March.
The Como Zoo has been a home for gorillas since the 1950s. Their updated Gorilla Forest exhibit opened in June of 2014 and cost $11 million to renovate from the previous exhibit. This new gorilla enclosure is 13,000 square feet – about three times the size of the original.
