The Park Railway operates as a round trip through the Grosser Garten Park. Passengers can board at any of the five stations. Trains run at intervals of approximately 15 to 30 minutes, every year from May to October. Behind-the-scenses visits and special rides can be arranged by prior appointment.
The story of Grosser Garten began in the year 1666 with a commission by Duke Johann Friedrich to lay out a pleasure garden to the south of the modest palace. Most of its pleasures, though, were initially the enjoyment of the fruit that grew there.
