Owing to the Bauhaus's financial difficulties, the Haus am Horn was sold to a private individual in 1924. In 1996, it entered onto the monument preservation list of UNESCO and was declared a 20th century world heritage site. Due to reconstruction work, the house on the Horn is currently closed. It can be visited only during a Bauhaus walk.

The Haus am Horn is an experimental residential house built as part of the first Bauhaus exhibition in 1923. It was designed by the painter Georg Muche, then the youngest master of the Bauhaus and constructed by the practice of Bauhaus director Walter Gropius under the architect Adolf Meyer.

The Haus Am Horn is the only building designed and constructed by the Bauhaus in Weimar. This model house was built especially for the 1923 Bauhaus exhibition. It provided an opportunity for the Bauhaus masters and students to publicly present their visions of modern living and architecture for the first time.

In the second half of the 20 th century, Haus am Horn’s design principles would guide architecture around the world. Haus am Horn designed by Georg Muche , 1923, via Klassik Stiftung Weimar Marcel Breuer designed a large amount of the furniture for the house, and with it virtually invented the modern kitchen interior.

The Haus Am Horn, built in 1923 on the occasion of the first Bauhaus exhibition, is the first and only Bauhaus architecture preserved in Weimar.
