Heinrich XX, Fürst Reuss zu Greiz, was the son of Heinrich XIII, Fürst Reuss zu Greiz, and his wife, Prinzessin Wilhelmine Luise von Nassau-Weilburg. He was married at Schloss Haid on November 25, 1835 to Prinzessin Sophie Maria Theresia zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, with whom he had no issue.

Heinrich XX died on November 8, 1859, aged 65, in Greiz, Principality of Reuss-Greiz and was buried at the Stadtkirche St. Marien (link in German), now in Greiz, Thuringia, Germany. Heinrich XXIII, his thirteen-year-old son succeeded him as the 5th Prince Reuss of Greiz.
