Huis (House) Doorn is a historical landmark where one can see how the last German Emperor lived with his closest family members and his household. The house and its content is remarkably well kept and intact. It breathes history. The park surrounding the house is large and beautiful.

Huis Doorn is an imperial residence in the middle of a village. Visit the 18 authentically furnished rooms where the last German Emperor lived, and feel like you’re stepping back in time. After Germany’s defeat in World War I, Kaiser Wilhelm II fled to the Netherlands and lived here in exile.

Museum Huis Doorn is the former place of exile of the last German emperor Wilhelm II. After the German defeat in World War I, he fled to the neutral Netherlands in 1918. In 1920, Wilhelm II bought Huis Doorn, where he lived until his death in 1941. You enter the estate through the characteristic gatehouse and can see Huis Doorn beyond the lawn.

Huis Doorn in the 18th century In 1762, Herman Frederik Richard Lijnslager inherited Huis Doorn and had it altered in accordance with the fashion of the time. However, the medieval appearance remains largely intact.

The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. We are open on all public holidays, except King's Day (April 27), Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Buy your tickets online or at the ticket office of Museum Huis Doorn. The ticket office closes at 16:00.
