Ferdinand's forces kept Prussia's western flank secure for the rest of the war. The British had suffered further defeats in North America, particularly at Fort William Henry. At home, however, stability had been established. Since 1756, successive governments led by Newcastle and Pitt had fallen.
On November 18th, 1772, Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia was born in Friedrichsfelde Palace, Berlin. Ferdinand was a soldier, and a gifted composer and pianist. Having died in battle at age 33, the Prince left behind only 13 published works.
