Mérida ( Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmeɾiða]) is a city and municipality of Spain, part of the Province of Badajoz, and capital of the autonomous community of Extremadura. Located in the western-central part of the Iberian Peninsula at 217 metres above sea level, the city is crossed by the Guadiana and Albarregas rivers.

Mérida is very small, meaning that the walk from ruin to ruin is very short. The bus and train stations are at opposite ends of the town. If coming by bus, you will come into Mérida from the west. After crossing the River Guadiana, you will come across the Zona Arqueológica de Morería.
