Matilda of Portugal was born around 1149, the daughter of Alphonso I, king of Portugal, and Matilda of Maurienne . At age 11, in 1160, she married Alphonso II, king of Aragon, but she died 13 years later, age 24. Following her death, Alphonso married Sancha of Castile and Leon (d. 1208).
