Biography. Marie-Jean-Antoine-Nicolas de Caritat took his hereditary title Marquis de Condorcet from the town of Condorcet in Dauphiné. His parents were Jean Pierre Antoine Caritat de Condorcet (1702-1743) and Marie Madeleine Catherine Gaudry (1710-1784). Antoine Caritat de Condorcet was a military man and was captain of the Barbançon regiment.
