Michael Anthony Munchak (born March 5, 1960) is an American professional football coach and former player in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions, Munchak played left guard for the Houston Oilers from 1982 until 1993 and was a nine-time selection to the Pro Bowl.
Munchak had interviewed for the head coaching vacancy with the Denver Broncos, but when Vic Fangio was the team’s selection, Munchak chose a lateral move to the Broncos to be closer to his family.

Munchak was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001 after earning eight All-Pro honors and nine Pro Bowl nods as an offensive lineman with the Houston Oilers from 1982-1993.
When Munchak left the Steelers after the 2018 season, his motives for leaving were unresolved for being either more about getting away from the organization or having personal reasons to join the Broncos’ coaching staff. “At the time I was trying to stay out West,” Munchak said.
