The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University is a private conservatory and preparatory school in Baltimore, Maryland. It was founded in 1857 and opened in 1866 by merchant/financier and philanthropist George Peabody (1795–1869), and is the oldest conservatory in the United States.
Peabody is open during the summer and visitors can tour our halls, facilities, and 19th century architecture. Many faculty and students are not on campus during the summer, so this would be a nice, quiet time to see a behind-the-scenes tour of our campus.
The George Peabody Library is a special collections library on Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Institute campus in Mount Vernon. It is home to more than 300,000 volumes and is a non-circulating library open to the public.
