Taraz (Kazakh: Тараз, تاراز, romanized: Taraz (listen ⓘ); known to Europeans as Talas) is a city and the administrative center of Jambyl Region in Kazakhstan, located on the Talas (Taraz) River in the south of the country near the border with Kyrgyzstan.
