Wave Hill is a museum without walls with a living collection of more than 4,000 varieties of trees, shrubs, vines and herbaceous plants. It is the only public garden in the New York metropolitan area practicing a unique combination of classic horticultural craftsmanship and daring design.
Wave Hill is a jewel-box beautiful garden and former home on an overlook in the northwest corner of the Bronx. The views of the Hudson River and the NJ Palisades are stunning. It is particularly resplendent in the fall when the fall foliage color flourishes. There are occasional exhibits in the house and there is a small cafe.

On 23 August 1966, 200 Gurindji stockmen, domestic workers and their families initiated strike action at Wave Hill station in the Northern Territory. Negotiations with the station owners, the international food company Vestey Brothers, broke down, leading to a seven-year dispute.
