Zilker Metropolitan Park is a recreational area in south Austin, Texas at the juncture of Barton Creek and the Colorado River that comprises over 350 acres (142 ha) of publicly owned land. It is named after its benefactor, Andrew Jackson Zilker, who donated the land to the city in 1917.

Mr. Zilker came to Austin in 1876 to become a business man and a banker.

Zilker Park is known as the "jewel in the heart of Austin," and it's easy to see why. The 351 acre park features a natural spring-fed swimming pool, sculpture garden, stand-up paddle boarding, dinosaurs (at the prehistoric gardens in the botanical garden) and unbeatable views of the Austin skyline.

Located just south of downtown Austin, Zilker Park stretches across 350 acres of rolling hills. Barton Springs Pool, sometimes referred to as the “soul of the city,” lies at the center of the park. The rest of the park is a mix of open space and minimally developed land crisscrossed by hike-and-bike trails.
Home to Barton Springs, the Zilker Eagle, a large playscape, and four hundred acres of sports fields and woodlands, Zilker Park is a popular weekend destination.
