In 1913 Princess Viktoria was married to Ernest Augustus, duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, great-grandson of the duke of Cumberland, son of George III of England. The wedding, attended by most of the crowned heads of Europe, took place shortly before the outbreak of World War I.

On Saturday 16 September 2017 Hereditary Prince Ferdinand zu Leiningen and Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia married religiously at the Princely Abbey Church of Amorbach at 11am. The civil wedding had already taken place on 29 April 2017, as I reported back then.

Although one newspaper described the marriage of Princess Victoria Luise of Prussia to Prince Ernst August of Hanover as "an affair of the first magnitude, " Kaiser Wilhelm II considered his only daughter's wedding to be a private family affair.

Their wedding was held in Berlin, Kingdom of Prussia, now in the German state of Brandenburg, on May 24, 1913, and was one of the largest gatherings of royalty in Germany since the establishment of the German Empire in 1871.
