Yahoo! ( / ˈjɑːhuː /, styled yahoo! in its logo)   is an American web services provider. It is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and operated by the namesake company Yahoo! Inc., which is 90% owned by investment funds managed by Apollo Global Management and 10% by Verizon Communications .
Yahoo! is a computer software and web search engine company founded on March 1, 1995.  The company is a public corporation and its headquarters is located in Sunnyvale, California.  It was founded by Stanford University graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1994.

It has offered a wide range of online sites and services since its inception in 1994, a majority of which are now defunct.
