Born in Chur, Switzerland in 1741, Kauffman trained with her father, the Austrian painterJoseph Johann Kauffman, and was recognised as a child prodigy.
Angelica was born on 30th October 1741 in Chur, Switzerland. Her father was an impoverished artist who encouraged his daughter's interest in art; her mother, Cléofa Lucci, was apparently equally enthusiastic.
