The Autocar Company is an American specialist manufacturer of severe-duty, Class 7 and Class 8 vocational trucks, with its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. Started in 1897 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a manufacturer of Brass Era automobiles, and trucks from 1899, Autocar is the oldest surviving motor vehicle brand in the Western Hemisphere.

Purpose-Built. The all-steel Autocar Driver Cab was launched in 1950, bringing a new era of innovations designed to improve operators’ comfort and productivity. After growing the Autocar company-owned dealer network to over 100 locations, Autocar was acquired by the White Motor Company in 1953.

The company bought Autocar and the Xpeditor truck model from Volvo Trucks North America in 2001 and formed Autocar, LLC, a company that began in Pittsburgh in 1897. Autocar’s mission is to build the highest-performing severe-service trucks in the world.
