CommonSpirit Health will perform most health care operational functions on behalf of or in collaboration with CHI, Dignity Health, and Dignity Community Care.

CHI was a nonprofit, faith-based health system formed, in 1996, through the consolidation of three Catholic health systems. It was one of the United States ' largest healthcare systems.

It was created in February 2019 through the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health.
