The Cook County Circuit Court is the largest court system in Illinois and the second largest unified court system in the world. Our staff is composed of more than 1,400 employees. Our primary function is to attend court sessions and make, keep, and preserve all records of the court. The county was named for Daniel Cook, one of the earliest and youngest statesmen in Illinois history. He served as the second U.S. Representative from Illinois and the state's first Attorney General.
