Deutsche Telekom noted it had worked with Google for many years. In 2021, for example, its T-Systems unit teamed with Google Cloud to build and supply sovereign cloud services to German public sector, enterprises and healthcare companies. More recently, Google Cloud acquired the Deutsche Telekom-backed edge computing company MobiledgeX.

Deutsche Telekom plans to formally choose a winner as soon as this week, according to the people. The unit could be valued at around US$20 billion (about RM88.39 billion) in any deal, the people said. While negotiations are in an advanced stage, no final decisions had been made and the talks could still fall apart, the people said.

Deutsche Telekom attributed the profit rise mainly to the sale of a 50 per cent stake in FTTH company Glasfaser Plus and the completion of a sale in the Netherlands. Its success in the US also continued, with a rise of 6.1 million customers to 109.5 million, adding 1.3 million mobile post-paid. Revenue increased 1.9 per cent to reach $20.3 million.
