Devin Devorris Hester Sr. (born November 4, 1982) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver and return specialist in the National Football League (NFL). He is widely regarded as the greatest return specialist in NFL history, and was the first and only player to return the opening kick of the Super Bowl back for a touchdown.

Former Bears star Devin Hester on Wednesday was selected as one of 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2023. Hester was selected as one of 15 finalists in his first year of eligibility last year, but he was not chosen as part of the Class of 2022. Hester played eight of his 11 NFL seasons with the Bears.
Devin Hester was born in Riviera Beach, Florida, and was raised by his uncle, Derrick Brown, who introduced him to football at a young age. Hester played high school football at Suncoast High School where he excelled as a multi-positional threat and was rated highly as a cornerback. After high school, Hester took his talents to the University of Miami and began to get recognized for his skill on kick returns.
