Alella is a small, little-known wine district in Catalonia, northeastern Spain. It centers around the village of the same name in the southern Maresme region on the Mediterranean coast immediately northeast of the fringes of Barcelona. Alella wines are mainly whites, but robust reds and fruit-driven rosés also feature.
Alella, a tiny yet important sub-region in the Catalan landscape, takes its name from a small town in the Maresme region about half an hour up the coast from Barcelona. The vineyards are located along the coastline and run into the foothills of the Sierra de Parpes range.
We loved our visit to Alta Alella! The winery is gorgeous with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. It is located just outside the city of Barcelona and was one of the highlights of our trip to Spain.
