A master orator and propagandist, he is generally accounted responsible for presenting a favourable image of the Nazi regime to the German people.
Goebbels was born into a strict Catholic, working-class family in Rheydt, Germany, in 1897. As a child he had polio, which left him with a deformed foot and one leg two inches shorter than the other.
