Mission San Jose was founded on June 11, 1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen on a site which was part of a natural highway by way of the Livermore Valley to the San Joaquin Valley. It is the fourteenth of the 21 Spanish Missions in Alta California.
The Mission is located at 43300 Mission Blvd. in Fremont, California. If you are visiting the Mission you may park in St. Joseph Church parking lot next door to the Mission, or on the street. From San Jose and the South Bay: Take 680 N. Exit at Mission Blvd. Note that there are TWO exits at Mission. Take exit 16, i.e. the 2nd Mission Blvd. exit.
