Overpeck County Park is an 811-acre (3.28 km 2) county park in Bergen County, New Jersey, with major sections in Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck, surrounding Overpeck Creek, a tributary of the Hackensack River. The vision to turn what was once a landfill into a beautiful park to be enjoyed by thousands of people is now a reality. More than 50 years ago, five Bergen County municipalities - Englewood, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck - donated hundreds of acres of land surrounding Overpeck Creek to the county for the creation of a park.

SITE DESCRIPTION: This unique 125-acre Preserve is a rehabilitated landfill that includes vernal pools, deciduous woods, non-tidal wetlands, streams, mixed swamp, grasslands, and open water, all of which make it one of the rarest habitats in Bergen County.
