The Seattle Aquarium has been studying them since 2003 after they noticed the occasional sixgill underneath their pier. Divers have also seen them near Alki and Redondo Beach. We know they can grow up to 14 feet in length – comparable in size to “great” white sharks –making them the third-largest predatory shark in the world.

We’ve done the Amtrak between portland and Seattle a couple times with the kids and it was pretty well received by the kids. I’d hit the gorge do a couple of waterfall hikes Hit timberline lodge do a hike there, trillium lake. Then use the train to Seattle do the aquarium, maybe hit a baseball game, the wharf and call it a trip.
