Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group (SPMPG): Formerly Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group. With a library of more than 4,000 films (including 12 Academy Award for Best Picture winners), as of 2004 this unit of Sony distributes about 22 films a year under its various studio brands in 67 countries. 
Rothman joined Sony Pictures in 2013 as Chairman of TriStar Pictures before being promoted to Chairman, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group in February 2015, and then to Chairman and CEO in 2021. Under his leadership, the motion picture business was returned to strong profitability and experienced several of its most profitable years ever.
