During the Polish Defensive War of 1939, Stanisław Bułak-Bałachowicz volunteered for the Polish army. He created a Volunteer Group that fought in the defence of Warsaw. Achievements For the German campaign Bułak-Bałachowicz was decorated with six orders and three soldier's Georgiev medals.
