Origin of Warner Bros. Cartoons: Bosko, Buddy, and Beans the Cat. Warner Bros. Animation began when producer Leon Schlesinger, who was distantly related to the Warner Brothers who founded their namesake studio, hired a pair of animators, Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising, veterans of Walt Disney's Kansas City cartoon studio.

Warner Bros. Animation also produces animated feature films, which are currently released under the label of "Warner Animation Group". After a series of mostly unsuccessful films in the 1990s and early 2000s, Warner Bros. closed down its in-house animated film division, only to reopen it in the 2010s after the success of The LEGO Movie.
