The service is sometimes referred to as AIM Mail where “AIM” stands for AOL Instant Messenger. On March 16, 2017, Verizon, which had acquired AOL in 2015, announced that it would discontinue its in-house e-mail services for internet subscribers, and migrate all customers to AOL Mail. After I set my account up in Outlook (and it failed to connect), I remembered I was helping a client earlier set up his profile last week and AOL gave us fits. We looked at his AOL profile and i noticed there was an app password but two-step was off. We created an app password and it worked. It worked for me tonight too.
