Faculty use Canvas to manage class content, make class announcements, share documents, and assign grades. Students use Canvas for viewing course content, submitting assignments, taking tests, and viewing grades. Canvas is known for its user-friendly online environment and ability to easily connect instructors and students both in and out of the classroom.

Instructors and students are automatically enrolled in Canvas containers. Instructors of Record are added one day after Instructional Operations has entered them into the Colleague system. An instructor login uses the same name as in WebAdvisor with your PIN. Students are enrolled in Canvas one day after they register for a course.

Canvas is Cuyamaca College’s learning management system (LMS) for online teaching and learning. This LMS is a cloud learning platform that enables the Cuyamaca College faculty to use web-based collaborative and assessment technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience. Instructors can use this service to design full-featured online course environments for the participants of their classes.
We recommend accessing Canvas by using the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers. A link to Canvas is located in the upper right corner of every page on the Grossmont website. You may also access Canvas by typing "gcccd.instructure.edu" into the url address bar of your web browser. We recomment that you add a bookmark to Canvas in your web browser so that you can easily login to Canvas in the event that the Grossmont website is offline.
