Simple solution that worked for me on my Samsung S7 (from a Gmail community thread): From the app, go to the settings page. Then drill down through each of the accounts you’re having problems with and uncheck the “Sync Gmail” option to turn it off, and then check it back to turn it on.
Click the gear in the top-right corner of Gmail and select Settings. Under the "General" tab, find the "Keyboard shortcuts" section and select Keyboard shortcuts on. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Go back to Settings, click on the "Labs" tab, find "Custom keyboard shortcuts" (by Alan S) and click Enable.
