For records after 2004, the requester should visit the Los Angeles County court where the case was filed. Enquirers can also mail requests to the address of the Archives and Records Center. Include the appropriate fees with mailed requests as checks payable to the Los Angeles Supreme Court.
Obtaining court records in person from the Los Angeles County Superior Court involves showing up at the courthouse where the case was originally filed, finding the Court Records Office, using their in-house computer system to identify your case number, and ordering copies of the records at the desk.
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the court has been operating remotely with reduced on-site staff. However, beginning July 15, 2021, the Clerk’s Office in Los Angeles will open to the public by appointment only. The court will continue to receive correspondence and filings via paper and electronically.
