The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is making it much easier for individuals interested in becoming foster parents to apply. Beginning Jan. 9, prospective and existing caregivers can access a new online application portal that streamlines the process and features user-friendly tools.
The purpose of the adoption program is to meet the permanency needs of children who are in the care and custody of the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). DCYF strives to find safe and stable families that can best meet the needs of the child or youth who are in the foster care system. In order for a family to adopt a Washington state foster child, they must become fully licensed as a foster parent with the intent of adopting.
Our vision is to ensure that Washington state’s children and youth grow up safe and healthy—thriving physically, emotionally and academically, nurtured by family and community. Foster Parenting & Kinship Care | Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families
