Windows 10 Mail is an app that reads mail from the mail server and all mail is still held on the mail server. It seems to suggest someone has deleted the mail and the mail box was emptied but not the mail from yesterday. Even if you reset the mail app it will still read emails back off the server an present them again in the app.
