Try logging into aol.com use the password to confirm it is not a password problem. If the password is good, try the following: Choose Settings > Manage Accounts. Choose the account that's out-of-date to display the account settings dialog. Choose Change mailbox sync settings > Advanced mailbox settings.

I have outlook desktop mail app running on windows 10 as of 12/14/2021. We have a AOL email ending with @Verizon.net. We run a POP sever across 6 computers while accessing one email address. Check that the antivirus is not restricting AOL from accessing the internet. Therefore, disable the antivirus program. Further, if you are worried about your windows security, remember that the windows defender is still active. Once you disable the antivirus program, check if you can sync Aol’s email. If not, remove the antivirus program.
